Problems with the Siemans-Halske Sh.III engine resulted in the planes being returned to the manufacturer. The problem was traced to a combination of the replacement of caster oil with mineral oil with lack of engine cooling through the close-fitting engine cowling. Changing the engine with the new Sh.IIIa plus changes to the cowling and the rudder resulted in the aircraft rerturning to service, and the final of te three orders.
