The SPAD XIII had a top speed of 211 km/h (131 mph) and was armed two .303 in Vickers machine guns. In US service it was armed with two Marlin M1917 or M1918 machine guns. It could also carry four 11 kg (25 lb) Cooper bombs.
The SPAD XIII proved to one of the most successful fighters of WW1, with over 8,000 produced. The aircraft served with the Aéronautique Militaire, the United States Army Air Service and the RFC.
