LVT-4 Water Buffalo
$15.00
Britain and the Canadians used the LVT-4 Water Buffalo for assaults in swampy areas (e.g. Battle of the Scheldt) and in assault river crossings, such as the crossing of the Rhine River (Operation Plunder).
The Water Buffalo was an LVT-2 modified by moving the engine forward and the addition of a large rear ramp door. These changes almost doubled the carrying capacity, to 30 troops, allowed troops to exit the rear of the vehicle and greatly improved cargo handling. Many of the British LVT-4 were armed with a 20 mm Polsten cannon and two .30 in (7.62 mm) Browning machine guns, or a combination of .50 in and .30 in Browning machine guns.
