Comet
$14.00
The Comet was a British cruiser tank that entered service in early 1945. It was armed with the newly introduced 17 pounder High Velocity gun. Secondary armament was two 7.92mm Besa MGs.
Having recognised the shortcomings of the Cromwell, Challenger and Firefly tanks then in service, and requiring a low profile vehicle, the British General Staff issued specification A34 (later Comet). Designers corrected some of the Cromwell's flaws while building on its strengths of a low profile, speed and mobility. The German Ardennes Offensive briefly delayed Comet's service entry, and the British 11th Armoured Division became the only division fully refitted with Comets until the end of the war. The tank saw combat, with 26 destroyed.
