Ram Tank

Canadian designed and built cruiser tank based on the US M3 medium tank chassis. The Ram was used for training following US and British standardisation on Sherman gun tanks for frontline use.
Canada was already producing Valentine infantry support tanks for Britain and then the Canadian Army. Recognising the need to supply their own cruiser tanks if Canada wanted an armoured division, Canada looked to the US for the basis of their design. This came in the M3 chassis and lower hull, with a newly designed cast upper hull and turret equipped to take the British 6 pdr antitank gun.
